Had the worst experience of an ugly Singaporean. I couldn't do what he did, and I really wonder what kind of moral values he's imparting to his kids and what goes on in that unethical mind of his.
Got into a car accident sometime in March this year. Turning into a small road from a main road, the car (a weathered black Toyota Corolla, ) in front of me was supposed to have moved off but jam-braked for no reason. I tried to brake too, but had a low-impact "kiss" at about 5km. Wanted to resolve the matter on-the-spot, but the guy (ironically, his name, "Toy" sounds so innocent) refused to wait for technician and just drove off. He wasn't even polite to start with. I had apologised and offered to repair his car, but imagine my shock when he brazenly (and cockily) demanded that I pay him $800+ for a change of his whole bumper at Borneo Motors (adding that if I didn't pay, he could always make me lose my NCB by claiming against my insurance). He further rubbed it in by saying that he knew that his car was old (and the impact didn't really cause much visible damage) and most of the "injuries" weren't caused by this accident (in his words, they were "old scars"), but since Imy car had "kissed his butt", it's just too bad for me... The last straw came when he aloofly stated that he knew the repairs were expensive, but "why should he care? He's not the one paying anyway". And that I would stand to lose more if I didn't give in to his demands. That did me in. I've had my car bumper kissed before, but I knew they weren't intentional and resolved the issues amicably (a check around with my friends also yielded the same response, from those who'd been "kissed" before). I couldn't believe that someone could stoop so low as to do what this bugger did, and I really wonder what kind of a person would do this. I told him to go ahead and claim. I know I might seem stupid to do so, but he had been so unreasonable and nasty that there was no point continuing the conversation. It was either I meet his demands (however exorbitant they were) or there was no deal. I guess I'm feeling more disgusted (by his dastardly behaviour) than angry... i've actually heard an incident directly opposite yours a few years back(was my friend's ride), to cut it short, this CRV driver was half asleep and smooched my poor butt at a junction(those 2 lane right turns with the 2nd being able to go straight/turn right, i was waiting to make a right turn on the outer lane). the driver immediately got out, took out his IC and said, "please take down my particulars and my contact, go claim all u want"
there was only a moderate dent on the rear bumper but at the end of all the claims, my friend actually got his bumper/rear doors/boot door(hatch back)/and rear axles all upgraded/changed due to wear and tear -- from that guy's insurance! ![]() for a moment, i was actually thinkin that u could have said, "wanna claim huh? *reverse*/*ram your gas*/make sure his bumper is REALLY wrecked*/get off your car and say sickaporeanly "claim loh!" ![]() but sorry to hear abt your incident bro, hope things would go on smoothly and have a safe journey on the road every day, cheers ![]()

We should have web cams in each car capturing each journey (new trip record over previous trip to save memory space) so there won't be any dispute about what happened. Maybe technology still far off for that?

to threadstarter - yours is not the worst i guess
my boss once stopped behind another car at the traffic light. when the light turned green, the front car actually reversed into my boss's car! the guy came down and apologise, claiming that he is used to manual car so forgot shift forward is reverse. he offered to pay for the damages and asked my boss to claim against his insurance. the next day, the other guys insurance company called my boss and said the driver claimed that my boss hit his car! and now the other driver is claiming against my boss's insurance! although my boss fought the case all the way, the court chose to believe the idiot and got my boss's insurance company to pay =( |
