i took taxi during the peak hour from Temasek Poly to Simpang Bedok and it cost me $8!
ok, its peak hour and there is some traffic jam..

but have u notice how some taxi drivers accelerate then stop then accelerate? the fare went up so fast!

i've read in mens health saying tt it does not work (they asked the comfort company about it)

wad do u all think?

only thoes with auto cant use this trick....... got a taxi driver tell me before that he can just keep on stepping the pedal and it will rasie more fares

It doesnt make sense!
Fuel prices has gone up so much, what's the point of charging you more and then having to pay more when he goes top up his tank??!!?

Its basically the driver's driving mannerism/habit .... don't be so suspicious la!

why so agitated?

and it doesnt work. it's just one of the many oh-i'm-so-pro-i-know-the-things taxi drivers' believe. uncles ma, cant stp them from believing whatever they want to believe.

if dis work, dat mean they will pay more for the fuel too... the more u step on the accelerate the more fuel gone..

8bucks to simpang bedok is also abit too much lahz.. but u must understand normal trip is 6bucks..

i use to take cab from tampines to bedok south.. 5.8 liaoz..

plus now the meter goes up faster at a shorter distance... so maybe tats the reason..

another reason can be the route he is taking...

wont be tat accelerate n brake trick lahz.. fuel is really ex lohz.. its a waste of fuel if he keep doing tat..

but if i not wrong taxi drivers got fuel rebates.. lolz..

we all know the more u step on the accelerator the more fuel consumption hence the higher the cost of operation... But i still met quite many drivers dont like to change gear and keep stepping on the accelerator... driving on a straight road at speed of 70 - 80 kmph still at 3rd gear... wonder y they do dat... cost more fuel, uncomfortable for the passenger...

Mayb he took u on a long route so u just had 2 pay more,also remember now taxi fare kinda hiked a little. Anyway Distance is the way 2 ur $, nothing else. But agreed on the point that SOME taxi-drivers r really very un ethical in servicing n doing "biz"

oh so accelerate and stop is to save fuel money and not raise the fare..

but sometimes they accelerate stop accelerate stop really make the ride very giddy..
