Hi ppl... me wanna learn driving. Taking as a private.. not skool. Can i start driving on da roads while waiting to take my advance? Thanks!

Yes.

But sometimes it also depend on individual instructors. I have heard of private instructors who only take in students who have completed their BTT and FTT, for whatever reasons...

for sch.. YES.. u can start to learn driving.. but u cant take test..til u pass ur advance..

YES, u can... but not advisable... cause u need to pay for your PDL... & if I'm not wrong, it renewal upon 6mths... so it's better that u pass ur Advance, then u get ur test date, then apply PDL... this will save more money... cause privete student will tend to get their test date much later then student...

touch wood, just in case u fail ur advance, then u will waste money renewing ur PDL le...

True. So I think for private, the "steps" should be book test date, take BTT and FTT, then nearer test date start practical lessons.

Yea, think you should book for your practical test date first, the wait will be a few months. In the meantime, start scouting around for instructors.

BTT = Basic Theory Test
FTT = Final Theory Test

oh.. ok... me got my BTT alreadi.. hav nt book my FTT. Will b booking it tis fridae.. won't my private instructor help me to book da Test Date? Normally for private.. hw many mths i hav to wait for the practical test?

Hmm, I'm taking with school, not quite sure of the procedures for private bookings. If you already have an instructor, why not you ask him about it? Or perhaps the folks here who did private can shed some light...

Last I saw the whiteboard, earliest private test date at SSDC is around October I think.
