Since this forum is to talk about the supernaturals stuff, why not have a poll to see how many of us actually believe/ dun believe such stuffs(ghost, aliens etc).

Personally i never have any strange encounter before, not that i hope to see them in the future.
However i'm a firm believer that such things exist. I feel that it's foolish to laugh them off jus becos the there are not enuff scientific evidence to prove them. Just think about it, the lack of evidence merely prove that the technological is not advanced enuff to explain it, so it may still be there afterall. Before the invention of microscope, who will believe that there exist micro-organisms so small that it's impossible to see with naked eyes? Before inventions of satellites and television, how can anyone imagine that it is possibe to see wat ppl from the other side of the globe is doing real time?

As for aliens, i also believe that there are other living beings apart from those on earth. I remember watching the movie CONTACT by jodie foster, she said something like if we are the only beings living in the universe, wun it be an awful waste of space? Nobody can define how big the universe is. How can we be sure that there is nothing at the other end of the universe. I find it hard to believe that of the WHOLE universe(not only the solar systems and the miserable nine planets), only earth is inhabited with living things. So, just poll, and explain your decision. :)

When it comes to the paranormal, we need to believe on a case by case basis. Most believers believe without validating the facts, while the non-believers refuse to look at the data. What we need is to have an open mind. Research and investigate, gather the data before you decide to believe in anything.

Everyone loves mystery. Media often depicts mysterious stories, like disappearance of ship in Bermuda Triangle, but they did not report on the result of the investigation that the ship was merely being stolen :D That's why we need to be cautious. Being an open-minded and yet skeptical researcher is different from being just a mere believer.

I remembered reading up some articles on "earth-like" planets which circle a "sun" of their own too. If I didn't remember wrongly, there are around 30 million planets that circle a star(from our viewable range), and from the article it says if only 10% support life, it will be 3 million planets already!

Well my fact could be wrong, but I just wish to show that I believe out of those numbers of planets, another one of those will be self-contained like our Earth. So I believe in supernatural.

I don't really understand what is the whole issue here, 'believe' that ghosts exist? :confused: Scientifically speaking (as most parapsychologists will tell you), we only look at the data, not based everything on blind faith. Therefore, I only believe that the phenomena exist, i.e. there is no doubt that people do experience the so-called 'ghostly' phenomena, but that does not mean that I believe in ghosts as "spirits of the death". This is just a hypothesis, known as "discarnate entity hypothesis" in parapsychology. Other hypotheses have been suggested that can explain ghostly phenomena without accepting that human spirits are involved.

As an analogy, gravity exists as apples (and other things) fall down to the earth. This is not based on belief but a fact. Let says some primitive people think that gravity is caused by little demons that are obsessed with pulling everything down to the earth. You can 'believe' that gravity exists but not believing in this demon hypothesis. Similarly, Newton Gravitational Force theory, Einstein's Space-time Curvature Theory explain gravity differently, you can choose which one to believe in, but no matter what you do, the phenomena exists without doubt. The same goes for 'ghosts'. The phenomena exists but it remains to see what ghosts really are. ;)

There are others beyond our world
