M1 all the way, but considering Singtel coz of the Pay As You Roam service...can save on Auto Roaming fee...
And with the new Number Retention scheme, think it is becoming more and more viable...

Quite ex if you always outstation (receive call). In M'sia, 1 mins is about S$1 (plus) when I receive call. When call out, the price still reasonable.

Well, not always lah...just in case when you need it,,,previously what I do is, in order to save cost...if to buy a roaming prepaid card, and divert all my calls to that card, so, can control the cost...but down point is,,,cant get SMS...

Actually, for the Pay-As-You-Roam service, the incoming call charge would be the IDD charge from Singapore to Malaysia. If you were to make an outgoing call from Malaysia, you would be using the GlobalDial121 service which means that you would be charged based on the IDD charges from Singapore to Malaysia. On top of that, there would be an additional 20% surcharge. The surcharge is only applicable for outgoing calls made.
The additional 20% surcharge will only be applicable if you are using the Pay-As-You-Roam roaming service. If you were to subscribe for the Global Autoroam roaming service ($20 registration, $10 monthly), then there would be no additional 20% surcharge for outgoing calls made, while you are overseas, utilising the GlobalDial121 service.
Assuming that the standard IDD call charge from Singapore to Malaysia is 70¢, so the call charges for a person on the Pay-As-You-Roam service calling back to Singapore from Malaysia would be as follows:
----------------------------------------
Surcharge --> 70¢ x 20% = 14¢
Total --> 70¢ + 14¢ = 84¢
----------------------------------------
GlobalDial121 is basically a callback service and thus on average, making an IDD call using GlobalDial121 is cheaper than making a call directly from Malaysia. The drawback of the Pay-As-You-Roam service is that it is currently not fully supported by all the networks in Malaysia. Call the SingTel Mobile Customer Service Hotline at 1626 for more details.

And also the drawback is cant send SMS...

No. You can send SMS while on the Pay-As-You-Roam roaming service. The charges will be the outgoing SMS charge imposed by the foreign network operator you are on and an additional 20% surcharge. Call the SingTel Mobile Customer Service Hotline at 1626 for more information.

Really? Last time they told me cant, because using different network from the conventional Auto-Roam network, thus can receive SMS and cant send out...
If using Auto-Roam, then can send and rerceive...Pay-As-U-Roam can receive but cant send...
So now, can already...thats good news...

Actually, it would be because of certain network constraints in the past, but now, they have modified the system to allow the sending of SMS while using the Pay-As-You-Roam roaming service. We're getting off-topic here.

I used all 3 b4 n find tt m1 is the cheapest. Singtel, my bill never go below $200+ even though i control my usage. First bill oredi shock me, $300+....after 3 mths I terminate although got contract....rather spend $250 than few hundred every mth. Starhub last time no free sms, so i end up paying a lot too. Most satisfied with m1 so far.....never go past $160 b4 even with idd calls n global sms....n the singtel bill got no idd calls or global sms....big difference man! Find tt m1 cust svc is better too, last time have to wait for ages to get a CSO on the 1626 hotline. Pay as u roam is an advantage fr singtel, but i dun go overseas often so useless for me. Other than tt, dun find any other advantages over m1. Now in Singtel if u upgrade after 1 yr, u have to pay $100 more than those who completed their contract some more....so biased

Where got more wu hua? M1 normally new line n upgrade is the same price ma, unless u go to dealers instead of m1 shop lar. Only sometimes they have some offer like 'for new line only', not always.... n if u take new line, ur loyalty discount n sunperks all gone leh. Upgrade is better.....Some more if u take new line u have to pay for the new sim card, so actually difference btw new line n upgrade may not be significant too.

ST always got loyalty discounts off subscription, M1 no rewards at all except the what SunPerks (boring)! :(
SH new subscribers quite exp... cos only allow free incoming either 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am... so if rec calls during the other period, quite exp. my fren is old subscriber more worthwhile cos whole day free incoming!
any1 know if got 3 M1 lines = 3 contracts, are we able to cancel the primary line i.e. the 1st line we apply for when it expires? 3 lines = 3 diff contracts rite?

three lines can have three contracts depending on whether u signed any contract on those individual lines. Each line can have max of two contracts.
is any of them a supplementary line? if u terminate one of the main line no problem cos still can have the other line to act as the main line for the supp line.
m1 also got free incoming calls plans... Talk All u can and suntalk 100 and 700... call their 1627 and find out loh...
m1 got loyalty discount oso wat... they call it Bonus discount... look at ur bill carefully and u'll noe wat i mean... all new subscribers except for those on the free incoming call plans get 30% discount, 5% growth every yr until 45% max...
actually, u need to monitor ur usage and see how's ur usage like can change to a plan tat is suitable for ur usage pattern... once u understand how the plan works, how it charges, the freebies it gives u, u'll be able to ctrl ur bill better...

Tha's why IDA is going to release new handphone no starting with 8 in the months to come. Those that starts with 9 are running out due to users holding more than 1 line.
think it kind of common for ppl to hold 2 numbers nowadays..
even 2 HP.......

i think it shld be $0.01 per kb... not $0.02 per kb... if u go on a subscription based svc, it can go as low as $0.003 per kb depending on the Sunsurf plan u use... i'm one of them who subscribes to the svc :)

u shld be right... as far as wat i noe, u'll see ur fone dialling up a number when u use a CSD connection... for GPRS, it'll simply show tat its connecting via GPRS... Some additional info, CSD is airtime-based charging whereas GPRS is volume-based....

i tried to download things from wap pages which requires GPRS connection. Only with my starhub sim card and GPRS setting, I can download the required things. For M1 and Singtel, I can't download any. Test on a few phones and cards.

i know last time, M1 got 3 settings. 1.wap 2.GPRS 3.MMS now, they only have 2. it's called WAP over GPRS. (kind of a combine thing).
which was what made me suspect that M1 and Singtel dont have "pure" GPRS.

whether u get 3 settings or 2 settings depends on the hp model. When doing the config for N6220 for my fren, only get two settings; GPRS and MMS. If u wan CSD connection, have to do manual config... For my N7250, i got 3 settings when req for the auto config. Btw, there's really no such thing as "pure" GPRS. The connection is the same for all 3 telcos. Just depends on wat hp model u r using and wat u r trying to achieve. Which wap site are u trying to visit? Maybe i can give it a try.
