Wap / GPRS

Is both the same thing ? I using singtel and i downloaded the wap n gprs setting. But i can't connect to wap using the gsm data as data bearer . Only can connect using the setting for gprs as data bearer. Am i connecting using gprs instead of wap ?

wap is charge by airtime..how long u use..then how much they charge....


gprs is charge by kb u d/l......when u d/l things...it takes up kb...when u onli open a page..it also takes up kb...

abt the charge on airtime n kb thingy..read another topic..posted be4.....or simply call ur service provider :gl:

I thinki you also feel tired after repeating the same answes everytime..must ask them to check woth their service provider...

I got new problem..who can tell me why i go thru wap, download Janes java games, and the error msg is "page not found". Is the file being removed???

Also, my hp is nokia 6100. How come when people call me, they cannot reach me even though my signal bars in my hp is full? I am using singtel service, that why when they cannot get me, there will e a free sms service. That why i know....singel is the best in coverage...any solution???

some page might got error then the server prevent it from loading, or too many ppl using the gprs to access it which cos traffic jam...
or the server is down or too bz lor... so connection to the wap fail

sometime server will be abit sot sot one.. whahah technology unstable

if its dialing a no. then u r using WAP instead of GPRS...

ya .. i think i would be going down to singtelshop to ask them abt it ........ use wap seems to be cheaper leh ...., if dling a lot of stuff .... use gprs to browse then good ....

...nowadays phones r wap n gprs enabled liao....in ur hp..under the service setting..u can choose to surf the net by using wap or gprs mah....

so in order to save $$ while surfin GPRS, i will advise u to bookmark the wapsite u like..or if u realli need to use the wapsite within 5-10mins.. den dun disconnect ur GPRS 1st
so u can save $$ for the openin page liao lor

hmm... but GPRS will be billed seperately with the local usage costs on the bill wor.. i usally use WAP.. heh.. GPRS means extra $$ leh...

so i think its better for u guys here to share the wap site regardless of ringtone, movie, simi sai also can whahaha

now.. got new fone, use gprs to dl stuff.. after i got my IR.. haha.. shiok.. seldom use gprs liao..

all in all, gprs for mi is juz to do nitty bitty stuff, eg, movie listings.. news.. etc.. :D

so how do i noe i'm using the gprs or the wap... for me its always have he G on the top left hand corner.... thats indicate is gprs rite???

as for my case it's super slow leh... dunno why also... phone was simens ME45 then 7210 then 7650 then 8910I also the same leh...

Some Server for wap files r actually removed and thats the reason y when u download things from it but when u open, it show invalid file or format.

Wap using CSD connection, or the most 'recent' version is HSCSD(High-Speed Circuit Switch Data) is counted using connection time.
Wap using GPRS/EDGE is counted using the amount of data you download. It also has a slower data transfer rate as compared to CSD/HSCSD.

You are correct, you are downloading the wap page, usually 1kb or abit higher, and the ringtone you are also downloading too.

But bear in mind, if you use CSD/HSCSD connections to download games, you are using more time to download, this might make up for the differences of using GPRS/EDGE to download. So I really wun say that u use CSD/HSCSD to download is cheaper. It could even be more expensive and more air-time you have to pay.

How do you access the GPRS?? the wap i know is that there's a "internet" thingy on the handphone which can access the wap juz by entering the wap address... but for GPRS leh???

GPRS is the medium that you use to access 'internet'(WAP) on your handphone. GPRS is otherwise known commonly as the data rate that you use. Like Singnet BB is 256kbps, 512kbps, Starhub MOL is 1500kbps etc. GPRS is not so high, maybe less than 56kbps, I kinda forgot.
