Commit until you sian lor. But come to think about it, it's just as troublesome as keeping pets at home. Someone must be at home to feed them when the whole family plans for a holiday trip...... For dogs we can send them to dogs' hotel to take care of them, but nowhere to send little ghosts.

Guman Thong is a Thai amulet created in the form of a lovely young child, but it's really a ghost !! It's was first created in the early of Ayuthaya era or some 500 years ago during Khun Paen's life period. It can be said that Khun Paen was the first who created Guman Thong. He brought the dead baby from the womb of the dead Bua Klee, one of his minor wife, to the Bosth's outer area within Pathasima marking boundary pillars for ritual processes. I think it's Khunpaeh's wife's father want him dead (for some reason) so he ask his daughter to poison Khunpaeh. But somehow Khunpaeh got the wind of it and in the end i forgot already.. i think it's his wife took the poison wrongly herself or Khunpaeh killed her. Then Khunpaeh cut open his wife and took out the unborn baby..wrap it under a cloth and roast it over fire till i shrinks and he wore it with him that he won every battle after that. He named his son Golden Child, aka Gumantong :)

hell no. your friend totally underestimated the powers of the Toyol.

toyol are small ghost or creatures that are kept in bottles by a shaman. when someone requires the help of the supernatural. the shaman will deliver help through the toyol.

The toyol is kept by people to do their bidding, but the price for keeping it is you HAVE to feed it your own blood EVERYDAY. Some toyols have special 'needs' as well. i remember those 7th month thingy that those kopitiam organize, they usually will set up temporary altar below my block..
they will allocate one corner of the place to this small figure, i didnt bother to take a look.. but it will be flood with loads of sweets, yakult, toys.. =)

Zai zai also eat sweets and other many sweets and jelly de. We always offer him this when ki tong? Im not so sure ba =(

I cannot remember Zai zai is Hong Hai Er or Lian Hua San Tai Zi. I think its Hong Hai Er?

I heard that guei kia is ppl go dig at graveyard,those woman died during pregnancy den the baby still inside nvr take out. Then ppl go bring the spirit to feed. I oso heard this kis of guei kia will take money one in the night so some ppl that are rather superstitious will put pins around their wallet b4 they sleep.Believe it or not.

amulet as there are lots of unsculptous Ah Chans who are out to make quick bucks by not following correct steps. But there are Lung Phor
(monks) for example Wat Sam Ngam in Thailand who are specialise in Gumantong. But Guman Ting is actually not that fearful as they are wandering young spirits. Offerings are some milk and candies and occasionally some toys. But difference between bad Ah Chan and Lung Phor is when time to recarnate, they will leave whereas poor skilled ah chan whose out for quick buck will instead of helping the spirit, make matter worse and some ppl will feel luck going down as they are 'enjoying' the karma of poorly handled rituals. (eg:Barang stuffs)
So its best to know the facts and not jump into conclusion from hearsays.
Frankly speaking talking bout all these, to what I can say is, 'they' represents their owners more. They are just like knife, Kill or to cook.
But in black magic, ppl usually go for something else so hope I can clear the myth but Guman..

My 2 boys are from Luang Phor Yen Wat Sam Ngam.... Luang Phor Teh and Luang Phor Yen my fav monk and Wat Sam Ngam my fav temple! :grin:
