Format your nokia 6600

Tested on my N6600
remember to back up all your data in your phone as it will restored back to the default setting when you 1st get the phone.

Steps:

1) Switch off your phone
2) Hold the following keys together; 'call' button(green), '* +' button, 'def3' button and switch on your phone.
3) Don't let go the 3 button untill you see 'Formatting' appear.
4) Wait for a few minutes to complete the formatting.
5) Don't start or power off your phone during formatting.

*Notes: it best to keep your battery in full before formatting your phone memory. you can tried this code *#7370# but it doesn't help me.

Normally, it works, but to be safe, uninstall everything that is installed on the mmc drive, and reinstall..some applications actually place some files into the C..

when i doing the backup.....the prob occured backup c:nokia/install/...bla bla bla keeps poping up leh......all my files all like tt....ask me wan try again(which no use...or skip the file(i tried...realli alot n all my file all skip then ended up better dun backup also same..) or cancel backup........how?

I've got an issue here. I always encountered "App. closed mce" msg when i try to open up my SMS. I suspect its the Psiloc Extended Profile Pro that is causing the error as i cannot remove it using the App Manager.

Is there any way of removing the application using some other 3rd party software? The Extended Profile Pro is backed up together some other Psiloc applications in my MMC card. I've tried formatting my phone using Alouis' tip & using *#7370#.

The worst case scenario is that i have to start from scratch. :cry1: :cry:

Can the gurus provide some alternatives?

Now having only :

- System Tools
- Screen Capture
- Climber theme

Quite under-utilised for a Symbian phone eh?

It seems that when the phone is being booted up, one really has to wait for quite awhile before opening up the SMS/MMS in the Inbox although its in the phone memory. If not, the weird msg will appear & the messaging application will close. I've only recently encountered this problem. Its a thorn in the flesh when you need to SMS one & the application keep closing on you. :angry: :(

Hi Jac,

Thanks for sharing some insights. My phone seems alrite for the time being. After a coupla restarts, i can use messaging as per normal. I'm kinda sure i did not delete anything as i did not have FExplorer initially to tinker around with. :D

Did you experience the same symptoms as i did? I guess the logical solution will be to format your phone. BUT DO NOT restore from the MMC. :NoNo:
If possible, use the PC suite to backup to the PC especially your Phonebook contacts. I guess although this is a PAINFUL way of getting things done :cry1: , do treat it as housekeeping on your phone. I think a MMS capable phone should not have crippled MMS capability. If you feel that you can save on MMS charges in this way, do not let my words affect your personal preferences.

last time i got this prob is due to system tools...maybe..erm..i not too sure though...hahaha....

cos its being restored back to its initial settings just like when u first got ur phone. However, ur tones will not be lost so u can re-personalise ur profile to set ur tone again.... :)
