I think it's because they've decided to stick to the ODM's (Original Device Manufacturer's) design...

been having tis phone for about 2 weeks liao.. so heres a little review to share with those of u who is gonna get the phone next year..
first impression:
1. the phone is bloody thick (27mm)..
2. the flip opens and closes with a very nice ‘click’ sound (in my opinion)..
3. beri nice glossy black finish, but will leave fingerprints easily so be prepared to wipe the phone often..
4. the 65k screen beri nice and bright, but not as bright as my previous SPVx..
5. crystal clear sound from the external mono speaker.. (for ringtones, mp3 player, program sounds)
6. accept mp3 and wave files as ringtones.. (loud and clear)
7. able to change the skin of the home screen, not like other phones which can onli change the backdrops (backdrop = e.g. your photo as home screen)
8. keypad beri responsive but a bit difficult to press
programs included with the phone: (might not be the same as Singapore version)
1. Inbox (sms, mms and email)
2. Contacts
3. Calendar (calendar and appointments)
4. Internet Explorer (view actual webpages via gprs or dialup, but beri slow, 44kbps and cost about $1 per webpage: singtel)
5. ActiveSync
6. Call History
7. Camera (camera not included but can attach a detachable sd camera which should cost around $100 plus to $200)
8. File Manager (same as my computer or window explorer)
9. MSN Messenger
10. Photos (view .bmp, .2bp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .gif, .giff, .avi, .wav files)
11. Settings (phone settings)
12. Speed Dial
13. Tasks
14. Voice Notes
15. Windows Media (to play windows media files)
16. Calculator
17. Infrared Receive
18. MMS Setup
19. Modem Link (to use your phone as a modem for your laptop)
20. SIM Manager
21. System Info (display phone memory, storage space, battery life)
22. Task Manager (stop selected or all programs running in the background, to free up the phone memory)
23. Lemonade Inc. (game)
24. Solitaire (game)
Additional programs I downloaded into the phone:
1. PocketTV (play MPEG files on your phone: 160x120 pixels can play a whole 2 hours plus movie from your 256 sd card, 208x 160 pixels full screen can play about 100 minutes from 256mb sd card, but play full screen will be a bit laggy)
2. SMS Tools (to delete all deleted sms from your phone at once, without this u will have to delete the sms 1 by 1)
3. Orneta Notepad (same as notepad)
4. Pacman (game)
5. Xrally (game)
as the smartphone os is still pretty new in singapore, would suggest those of u who is waiting for this phone to visit other smartphone forums or play with your friends mio mitac den decide whether to get tis phone or not..
as for mi.. been using tis os for half year liao.. the mpx200 works exactly the same as my previous phone, but only faster in processing speed and response onli.. :p
