ask : sometimes u enter a website, u need to key in a few letters or numbers given randomly to u.
they are also made in a way where sometimes u cannot see the letter clearly
it is not a password... wat is the purpose ??

It is to prevent bot program from executing interactive user process automatically...
Having verification code will required us to identify and key in what was interpreted by our eyes before the website will proceed to process our request.
E.g. to prevent bot program from registering as KT member so as to spam large number of threads/posts effortlessly.

then why must make it so hard that some letters are unreadable ??
imagine the letter d and b combine... u dunno want to type b or d

I could not explain for that because it is algorithm of the verification code generator which created the image... the alphabet/number image could have been hardcoded, or the the generator retrieved from a standard set of alphabets/numeric images to generate as a single image

If you can't read it, you can choose to regenerate the picture, I believe most websites have a button that does that. For those who really cannot see, some websites give an alternative to play a sound for you to identify. I've never used that function before so I don't know if its easier.
